I'm not super into politics, but here are the few political views I have.
I'm a person who has the ability to think for myself. I don't agree with every republican view or every democratic view, but I'd say that I lean democrat. In this election, I hope Obama wins. Why? Because he's sincere. He seems to care about the people of America more than Mitt Romney does.
It blows my mind that anyone can overlook Romney's lies, which have been proven to be false over and over again. How could anyone want to vote for someone who has shown such little respect to all of us? If my spouse, a friend, or even a stranger blatantly lied to me without so much as an apology, I'd immediately distrust and disrespect them. The same goes for a presidential candidate, only they should be held to a higher standard than anyone else, for obvious reasons.
In addition to lying constantly and "changing" his political views frequently in the hopes that he'll appeal to more people, Mitt Romney has made it abundantly clear that he is not concerned about me or people like me- "I'm not concerned about the poor;" he said. So you know what, Mitt? I'm not concerned with you. If you don't win the election, you will continue to live in your big fancy house and you will never lay awake in your bed all night long with a knot in your stomach and tears in your eyes worrying about how to keep your family off the streets. You don't understand and can't relate to the majority of the people you are hoping to preside over.
If I have to have a rich president, give me one who acknowledges my struggles, at least. Neither candidate will magically fix my family's financial problems, but only one of them will openly scoff at me about them. I pray that the one who would, and has, isn't the one who wins today.
I know some people who say they're republican, but the only political thing I ever hear them talk about is abortion. Are people really choosing their party affiliation on the abortion topic alone? I'm not annoyed by the fact that there are republicans, I am just annoyed by the fact that people would elect a liar and a narcissist to run our country just because of his abortion views. Hey, I'm pro-life too, but Mitt Romney is not someone I want to lead our country for the reasons I've stated above. Even if we elected him, abortion would still happen. There's no way he'd be able to make abortion illegal throughout the entire country during his term, and so I don't feel that Romney will even accomplish what many republicans are hoping for. Heck, we don't even know if he actually opposes abortion. With his record, he just might be pretending to oppose it to gain votes.
Just my thoughts. If you voted for Mitt Romney, I won't hold it against you. But I don't trust the man as far as I can throw him.
- I'm pro-life. A baby is a human from the moment of conception. If it exists, it has human DNA, and it's growing, it's a person. An embryo has a beating heart from as early as 4-5 weeks of pregnancy and soon after that it develops brain waves and the ability to feel pain. No matter how the baby was conceived, it's murder to kill it. Just because the pregnancy is unwanted or even emotionally painful to the mother (in the case of rape), that does not justify murder. No matter how mad you are about something or how much you hate someone, it's still murder if you kill them. Your feelings about the person you kill do not change the facts. It's murder. Period. That said, if I had an ectopic pregnancy (those pregnancies are extremely dangerous for the mother, and the baby wouldn't survive the pregnancy because it did not correctly implant into the uterus) I would abort. If I was pregnant and I was dying, I'd do what I had to do to save my life. I'd be a wreck over it for months and years and decades. I'd still feel that it was "murder" and I would not suddenly become pro-choice. My survival instinct is the only thing that could override my pro-life philosophy.
- I think that birth control should be cheap and easily available. In order to prevent unwanted pregnancies, especially among poor people who can't afford birth control or a child, this is vital. If a married couple can't afford birth control, it's unlikely they'll be able to abstain from sex for years of their marriage and most would eventually have an "oops". And in the cases where a married couple is actually very good at abstaining from sex until they can afford contraception, it might not be very healthy for the marriage. Sex, although a taboo subject, is quite obviously healthy and very important in a marriage. It literally produces hormones that make a couple feel bonded together, and marriages with sex are simply happier and healthier marriages. Encouraging healthy marriages and families is just common sense to me. Healthy happy people equals a great country.
- I believe that gay people should be allowed to get married- how does it affect anyone else? Really?
- I think we should stop using nuclear power plants. Remember how Japan struggled with containing their power plant after the earthquake and tsunami? That could be us someday. We're having increasingly severe weather events all the time.
- I don't really think that regulating guns will prevent murders. People who want to kill other people will find another way to do it if they somehow weren't able to get their hands on a gun. This isn't a personal issue for me. I don't have a gun, nor do I want one. I just don't think it would be an effective strategy in combating violence and murder. I wish we could find a way to promote mental health and anger management to help reduce the threat that certain people pose to others.

ReplyDeletetypical liberal bitch
ReplyDeleteObama is the narcissist and liar. You probably didn't know that when you wrote this though. Your political beliefs seem to clash with the party you choose. Weird. o_O
