Well it's 3:31AM and I have an ultrasound later today. I was spotting yesterday afternoon and called the doctor. Although they gave me the, "Well, sometimes it happens and it can be normal..." mumbo jumbo, they also asked me to come in today for an ultrasound and an appointment with an OBGYN to check things out. My spotting has stopped, I'm feeling fine, but I'm feeling super excited about getting to see my little one today! Ultrasounds are always so wonderful! I'm 16 weeks pregnant exactly, and I'm hoping they take a peek at the boy/girl parts for me. I'm sure that no matter what we see they will tell me, "It's too early to be sure." I'm just dying to know the gender of the baby. I hope I'm not disappointed if I find out it's a boy. I love my son to pieces, I'd love another son just as much, but I have been crossing my fingers for a girl this time so I can have one of each. Plus, when I was at Wal-Mart yesterday, I saw these a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e little booties that were designed to look exactly like ballet slippers. They were only $5 and if we are having a girl you better believe I'm going to grab a pair of those! And I'm going to knit about 1,000 pink hats.
Speaking of knitting, I'm almost completely done with the stuffed snowman I'm making for Dip. The only thing left is the scarf that will go around it's neck which I'm working on now. I embroidered the eyes, buttons, and carrot nose on him today. I also have 2 more completed baby hats that I haven't posted pictures of yet, one of which the snowman is wearing and the other one matches the snowman's body. I bought some batteries for the camera today with a birthday gift card I got from my grandma so I will put up some pictures a little bit later.
I was also planning to put up some pictures of my pregnant belly, and I took a few... But I don't look pregnant in them. I have no idea why. I look skinnier in those pictures than I look in any of the pictures I've posted before of my pregnant belly. I'm still about 6 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight, and I think it's because I'm not eating enough. I spend too much time sleeping and resting and not enough time eating. Once Eric gets some money coming in I'm going to try to stock up on lots of healthy snacks to keep beside the bed so even when I'm resting I can keep up with my eating. I do hope that I gain less weight with this pregnancy than I did with my last. I lost some weight in the beginning of my last pregnancy too but once I started gaining I gained FAST! At the end of the pregnancy I was about 40-50 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. When I got pregnant this time I was only 5 pounds more than I was the first time I got pregnant, so thankfully I was able to lose almost all the weight I gained with my son before getting pregnant again.
I did spend some of my gift card money on a small bag of Doritos today. They aren't exactly healthy, but I haven't been eating unhealthy snacks at all lately. It's not like I'm having issues with gaining too much weight. I thought I could afford a few hundred extra calories and I'm glad I got them! They were delicious, and I wish I had gotten a much much larger bag! I'm also craving tortilla chips and salsa, fresh fruits, cheese, and veggies with dip. Hubby and I used to count calories and try to eat very healthy when we lived in Tennessee. I miss that diet, everything I chose to eat was so yummy and I felt so good about being in control of my diet. My favorite snacks were tortilla chips and salsa, string cheese, and mixed berries/fruit with a teaspoon of sugar over top. Yum Yum Yum Yum! I could live off of those things! Can't wait until we can afford to go out and buy every food I'm craving!
On another note, Eric is supposed to start work on Friday. They haven't given him any details about pay yet or anything so I don't know how excited to be, but for now, any income will be much needed and appreciated. If the job doesn't pay spectacularly (and it probably won't) Eric can always browse around for a higher paying job while he's working at the current one. I'm totally nervous about being a SAHM again while I'm pregnant, because my body does not handle pregnancy well. I get light headed, nauseous, and sick feeling if I stand or walk for too long. We told the doctor and they told me this is normal and that I can either "push through it" (and faint or puke? no thank you) or I can rest a lot. Chasing around a toddler all by myself while Eric's at work will be hard, and naturally it won't involve a lot of resting. I'm a littler nervous that we'll have bad news at my ultrasound tomorrow (placenta previa, for instance, is a possible cause for spotting during pregnancy) and if I have placenta previa I'll most likely be on bed rest. I won't be able to take care of my son, so I don't know who will do it when Eric is working. I'm not going to worry too much though, I doubt I have placenta previa. It's very uncommon and I only had a slight bit of spotting 1 time during this pregnancy. I probably just spotted today because I was walking around more than usual.
