I love this yarn!

There are 2 types of yarn that I buy.  I buy yarn that I like but wouldn't mind using for a project for someone else, and then I buy the kind that I absolutely NEED to wear.  That particular yarn will only be used for a project for me, and maybe the scraps can be used for someone else.  =)  Some of those "ME" yarns have been sitting around lonely for too long.  So I started working on a knit scarf using Paton's Lace in Woodrose.  It's a gorgeous striping yarn and the color changes aren't in a straight line (as you'll see in the picture).  It doesn't have the look of a yarn that is dyed by a machine in perfect increments.  It almost looks like it's hand-dyed because of the imperfect transition from color to color.  That's what I love the most about it.  The colors in the yarn are a thousand times prettier in real life.  The pink at the bottom is actually brighter than the picture makes it out to be.  The lighting in my apartment right now isn't the best so the camera wasn't able to capture the colors as they are seen with the naked eye.  I've only finished maybe 1/5 of the scarf, so I can't wait to see what this beautiful yarn has in store for me for the rest of the project.  I am anxious to see how it changes back to pink, and to see if the color changes look exactly the same when I change from pink to brown again.

The pattern for this scarf (if you can call it a pattern) is the most simple pattern imaginable- I just cast on 52 and have been doing k2p2 ribbing the entire time.  I was actually planning on using this yarn for a hat but when I was making my gauge swatch I changed my mind but kept the k2p2 ribbing I was planning on using for the brim of the hat.  I like the simplicity of it.  I'm letting the yarn do the talking on this project.  The ribbing also thickens it up a little bit.  This yarn is really thin (hence the word "lace" in the name) and stockinette stitch with this yarn would have been far too thin for a scarf.  I can't stop raving about this yarn- it's so soft.  It is 10% wool, 10% mohair, and 80% acrylic which makes it machine washable (not dryable though) but super soft and it has the lovely fuzzies all over it like wool and mohair should.  =) Everyone should buy this yarn in every color combination.  Okay... I'm done my rant now.  Have a great day everyone!
