I haven't posted anything about my knitting projects in a few days, so I think it's about time to. I'm still working on my mom's hat with the yarn she picked out. It's slow going because I feel like it's going to be too big and when I'm not happy with a project it takes longer to finish it. I don't want to quit and start over from scratch, because I have a feeling it will be better than I think once it's done. My mama says she has a big head anyway (I've never measured or noticed anything about it's size, lol) so let's hope she's correct so the hat will fit her better than it would fit me.
And here is one of my favorite projects. It's the first hat that I ever knitted. Anyone a fan of the Twilight books and movies? Well I am the hugest fan imaginable, and when I went to see Eclipse in theaters I absolutely fell in love with the knitted hat she wore in one of my favorite scenes. I decided right when I saw it that I needed to own a hat exactly like it someday soon whether I buy it or make it myself. I had no idea how to knit in the round. Up until that day I could only knit washcloths! So my hubby and I went out to Hobby Lobby and looked at every yarn they had there. He helped me pick out the yarns that would match the hat on the movie exactly, and he bought me a set of double pointed needles I picked out. And that very day I started and finished my first hat, my Bella hat. Here's a picture of the hat in the movie and the hat I made. I used a pattern I found but didn't gauge it (most beginners think they are immune to gauge issues), so the hat turned out a little big. It doesn't fit snugly like I'd hoped it would. So I went out to Yarn Haven. Yes, that's a store that's dedicated entirely to yarn. High end and expensive yarn at that! And I found some yarn that's an even BETTER match for the yarn in the hat in the movie, and I plan on altering the pattern or playing around with needle size until I make the most absolutely perfect hat. That's going to be one of my next projects. The very next project I work on is a mystery project that I'm not going to post about until long after it's done because I'm making it for somebody and don't want to ruin the surprise for them if they read my blog.
looks good! like the colors you used :)
